Today Two Tribes officially announced that their upcoming puzzle/platformer Toki Tori 2 will also be released on the Wii U. They had previously revealed the game on Steam, but the Wii U version comes as no surprise as they’ve been dropping hints for quite a while. They also mentioned how it made perfect sense to come to Nintendo’s new console because the first modern remake of Toki Tori started on WiiWare. No release date was mentioned besides “soon-ish”, though the Steam shop does list 2012 for release.
Along with a new trailer, they also unveiled details on a Wii U exclusive feature called Tokidex. Using the Wii U Gamepad as a virtual camera, you can scan the game screen for creatures and objects to add them to your Tokidex. Sounds very Pokémon-like to me.
The game looks to be shaping up quite nicely with spruced up HD graphics and gameplay. I can’t wait to try it out when it releases later this year.
