For those of you who have never heard of Ni No Kuni before, it’s a Japanese RPG developed Level 5 (Dragon Quest VIII) and Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away). The first thing you will notice is the Studio Ghibli art style which is very unique to the films that they produce. This art style with the collaboration of Level 5’s RPG game mechanics pretty much spells RPG Gold.
The story follows a boy named Oliver who’s mother just recently passed away. While crying all alone in his room Oliver’s tears fall onto a doll that his mother had made for him and then presto the doll magically comes to life. This doll leads him into a fantasy world in which he tells Oliver that he may find his mother there. Oliver decides that he must search between the fantasy world and the real world in order to find his mother.
While this game was announced for a 2012 release it was just recently pushed back to early 2013. This just means that we already have something special to look forward to next year.
