10 tons, the creators of King Oddball and Sparkle 2, are at it again with another game that will have you laughing and having a good time.  Tennis in the Face has a crazy story about a tennis player named Pete Pagassi who was addicted to an energy drink called explodz.  Pete was a great player and went downhill due to his addiction to this powerful energy drink.  After a stint in rehab, Pete was free of his addiction and took matters into his own hands of trying to rid the entire explodz corporation and free people from its evil control.

ten1

Tennis in the Face has explodz addicted bad guys to beat ranging from crazy clowns to riot police.  They are all being controlled by the evil explodz corporation trying to prevent you from stopping them.  The levels consist of these enraged characters placed strategically around the stages.  Pete decides to use his great tennis skills to take on the evil corporation.  You are given a certain amount of tennis balls to serve up and take out the baddies.  Also, certain stages you are given cans of explodz to throw that blow up.  To start, you will aim where you want to target and basically serve up the tennis balls.  Once you hit the tennis ball with your racket, the ball will bounce around quite a bit taking out all the targets in its path.  The goal is to try and take out all the bad guys with as few shots as possible.  There are also some items within each level that will help you achieve the goal of beating the levels with less shots.  The items include dynamite, barrels, tubes of extra tennis balls and more.

There are also some side missions throughout the game that add to the fun and challenge.  The side levels include accruing as many points as possible or taking out all the bad guys in the level and more.  They can get pretty challenging, for example, there is a level where you are trying to take out the makers of the game.  You are given as many balls to attack with as there are of them and unfortunately the balls don’t have many spots to bounce off of.  You have to really think about your shot and have skills to take each one of them out so good luck on that, you really are gonna need it.

ten2

The game plays very smooth and the visuals are awesome.  The game is smooth from the moment you serve the ball to the many bounces it takes to knockout the bad guys.  The music is very catchy but gets old quickly because it is the same song on repeat.  I will be honest, that is my only gripe and it is not enough for me to hate on this game whatsoever.  The graphics are smooth, they added a slow motion camera at the end when you beat the last bad guy which is pretty funny to watch most of the time.

The Recommendation

I went into this pretty excited because I enjoy the games from 10 tons.  They have been pretty good with fun and exciting games that come with quality.  This game is no different, it has the humor and the fun factor that will keep you playing and losing track of time.  Tennis in the Face has all the elements needed to keep you interested let alone having fun.  I mean who doesn’t want to hit a tennis ball into people’s faces.  I say get this game, it is worth every bit of that $4.99.
