I love puzzler games and Mousecraft delivers on some fun filled challenging puzzles.  There is a story to it but I won’t bother with it because it really doesn’t matter to the player, atleast in my eyes it doesn’t.  Basically the goal is to get the mice to the cheese, while collecting crystals and bombs.  Now, collecting the crystals and bombs are optional but in order to gain a perfect on the level and to unlock future levels you will need to make the effort.  Collecting the crystals will help you unlock later levels, which also helps fund the experiments and the bombs are used to help you reach the perfect goal.

There are 80 levels of mind boggling puzzles to take on.  The object of the game is to get your mice from the starting point, which is a mouse wheel, to the end, which is the cheese.  To do so, you will use blocks, called tetrominos which looks a lot like the pieces from tetris.  The tetrominos are carefully placed on the level to help the mice reach crystals, bombs and the cheese for the finish.  The map has 4 sets of blueprints which show cogs that are considered the levels.  Each blueprint shows where another tetromino can be unlocked and used to help or make difficult on your way to getting your mice to the prize.  The unlockable tetrominos include crumbling blocks, electrical blocks, bomb blocks and a few more.

The games graphics are nothing special, it is just a puzzler so it isn’t like it has to be phenomenal or anything.  The music on the other hand is fantastic, it sounds like a thinkers music but has a calm and mellow vibe to it too.  The puzzles are pretty difficult too, they start off real easy but then some of them get to a point where it is a lot of trial and error to see where or what your next move should be.  Every block on each level has a purpose to it, unless you are just trying to beat it without getting perfect.  If you are trying to reach the goal of perfection, then be ready to think and push your mind to the limit.

The Recommendation

Again, I love puzzle games because I love the challenge and to give my brain a good mental workout.  Mousecraft does NOT fail at that either, it will make you think you got the puzzle figured out only to realize you screwed up somewhere.  This game definitely one of the better puzzle games I have played to date because of the challenge to it and the fact that it feels like a new form of tetris.  If you don’t like to think and play puzzle games, then move on.  If you are into puzzles and have a love for tetris then download Mousecraft because it is worth every penny.
