The thought of going around and killing thousands upon thousands of zombies is such a bad ass concept.  If its done right, it could be the greatest zombie game to ever exist.  When Dead Rising first came out, I thought this would  be the game that could change the zombie gaming world.  I felt it could take games like Resident Evil to a higher level.  I was wrong, I played it and liked it but I kinda kept falling in and out of the game.  So, I was a little hesitant on Dead Rising 2.  I started the game and I liked the simple game controls, the story was decent, and the “Terror is Reality” is definitely awesome.  “TIR” is a game where you race other players in killing zombies while on your dirt bike.  Some of the bikes have things like chainsaws and swords hanging off the side and cut the zombies in half as you drive through them.

Chuck Greene, a former motocross star, had lost his wife to an earlier outbreak and in that same battle his daughter was infected and now needs some zombrex daily so she doesn’t become one of the ugly undead.  The story starts off with Chuck talking to his daughter before his event “Terror is Reality.”  After the event is over, an outbreak occurs and zombies seem to have taken over the place.    Chuck is being framed for the cause of the outbreak.  Chuck has to save face by clearing his name, retrieving zombrex for his daughter, help save survivors, and defeat psychopaths all before the military cleans up the mess in 3 days.

Just like in the first game, you will deal with thousands of zombies in your way as you try to reach your destination.  It is totally cool killing the walking dead but can get to be a pain trying to keep survivors alive getting them to the safe house.  It doesn’t help that the A.I. in the game isn’t much help either.  Some survivors, even the reporter that is helping you, have guns and instead of shooting some of the zombies, they just run right into them in hopes of turning I guess.  If the survivors get caught, you have to get the zombies off of them, but look out, if you hit the living too much they will turn on you and try to kill you.  I thought, hey I just helped you and this is how you repay me.  I have left them to fend for themselves, but one of them pissed me off so I took his life for the zombies to enjoy.  The A.I. in the zombie sense is pretty good though.  It isn’t something new or anything, but there are a few that will stand there peacefully, then there are some that will walk their slow route in an attempt to get you and then you have the few that can move pretty quickly and will really try to get at you.

The voice over acting is not that good, I mean there are the few that over act or are just terrible but for the most part it is decent.  The cut scenes can be pretty brutal, especially the reporter not to say some aren’t a little humorous.  The psychopaths in this game are are pretty funny or pretty damn insane.  The game play is pretty simple but it works great for the way the game is played.  The buttons have no real combo moves other than tapping the attack button or hold the attack button for a stronger attack.  It is definitely a button masher against the hordes of zombies but some of the weapons and vehicles make it awesome.  One of the better things done for this game is the fact that you gain experience and level up.  Leveling up will make your attributes stronger and will also help you unlock combo cards.  Combo cards will let you take to random things and create a new weapon which will be more than likely bad ass.  With the creation of your new weapon, you will enjoy gaining double experience with it until it is no longer usable.  I love that one of the first weapons that you can create in the game is a spiked baseball bat.  You can use guns, 2×4’s, bats, saw blades, a lawn mower and even zombie body parts.

dr2-5

Leveling up and creating new weapons makes this game way better than the first installment.  I like that when you start and you can’t do the simplest things in life but after leveling up and can reach a point to where you are ripping body parts clean off them nasty dead people.  I also believe that creating new weapons that most likely wouldn’t just be laying around is fantastic.  But, just like the first game, I get that feeling to where I wanna play and kill some zombie mofos but then after a little bit of doing so, I get bored.  I like it more than the original due to the few little additions but I won’t go on to say it is a game changer because it definitely is not.  If you are looking to just run around and kill the zombies then this game is great but if not then you will get bored of the redundancy of this game as well as I did.
