PS4 is Finally Getting External Hard Drive Support

It’s finally coming. I’m sure a lot of you run into issues like myself, your hard drive is full of games or you can’t do this game update and you’re sick of your PS4 telling you that it’s out of space. Sony is officially adding external hard drive support in the next update. There have been a lot of people stewing about this for a while since Xbox One has external hard drive support and now the time has finally come.

You can also edit screenshots using Photo Mode in Sharefactory to make your one-and-only custom wallpaper.

There’s no release date for this update patch, 4.50, although it enters beta today so it’s likely coming within the next couple of months. In addition to external HDD support (using USB 3.0, with hard drives of up to 8 terabytes), the new update will add a quick menu overhaul, the ability to create custom wallpapers, and simplified notifications.

Another new feature is that you’ll also be able to post directly on your PSN feed and watch 3D Blu-rays on PlayStation VR, if you were lucky enough to get one.
