Happy Mother’s Day from all of us here at GameGravy! We’re sure you bought your mom flowers and called her and took her to breakfast, right? Well she told us you didn’t. So give her a call, she’d love to hear from you.
Anyway, here are some top video game moms, in no particular order!
Ness’s Mother: Earthbound (Also known as Mother 2, a bonus mom!)
Eat your steak! Need some money? Call your mom, she’ll help you out and listen to your blathering on a payphone. She lives in the first town of Onett, and is one of the earliest NPCs you meet in Earthbound. Not much else to say about her.
Mother Brain: Metroid series
Not actually a mother, but since the content for this article is a little light to begin with, it falls under the scope of what I’m writing. Mother Brain is an AI leader of the Space Pirates in various instances of the Metroid saga. The first time you fight her is in the original NES Metroid, where she sits and patiently waits for you to kill her. Defenses include remaining motionless and residing in a glass bucket.
Jenova: Final Fantasy 7
An alien life form that crashed onto the planet thousands of years before the events of FF7, Jenova was responsible for the SOLDIER Project and Sephiroth, who considers “her” to be his mother. Then in Advent Children, she is acquired to try to revive Sephiroth – when all they really needed to get him back was go to any random DeviantArt page.
Crono’s Mom: Chrono Trigger
She has the first lines of the greatest video game of all time. She loves cats, cooking, and her reactions to Crono’s friends are priceless. She’s the reason I wrote this brief article. She’s Crono’s mom!
