Real money prices on Xbox Live an error?

You may remember all the rumors earlier this year that Microsoft would be getting rid of Microsoft Points and going to transaction using something called real currency. Recently some avatar items started popping up on Xbox Live priced with dollars, a large amount of people who would like nothing to do with Microsoft Points were extremely excited. Especially since there are always times where you just have an odd amount of points that just cannot be used. But then these avatar items were changed back to being priced under the MSP system very quickly once the word was spread.

Microsoft says it was “an error.”

“Yesterday, a few avatar items appeared with an option to purchase with local currency, instead of Microsoft Points,” said Microsoft in a statement. “This display error doesn’t signal a change in payment options, but rather an error in how the offers were configured in our services which resulted in an inconsistent experience. It is in the process of being resolved.”

So it appears that Microsoft is going to be extremely stubbon with removing their MS points system. However, it may actually be a signal of things to come. Their system is already setup for currency they just have to convert and do backwards development to make their system be inclusive to MS points. It seems like they have the architecture in place to make the change easily if they desired.

Would you like to see MS points go away or do you like things how they are? Let us know how you feel about those MS points below.
