Nintendo Download 8/09/2012

It’s that time of the week again!  New releases for the various Nintendo download services are here, but it’s nothing to actually get excited about.  This week is again low on content and high on ‘meh.’

First off we have Commando: Steel Disaster for DSi/3DS, a run-and-gun shooter in the style of Contra or Gunstar Heroes.  It looks decent enough and could be fun if that’s your genre.  Also out are Touch Battle Tank 3D for (you guessed it) the 3DS and another from the never-ending NeoGeo fighting game factory on the Wii Virtual Console called REAL BOUT FATAL FURY SPECIAL (they’re screaming at you, not me).

Continuing with the month of Mario, you can grab 3DS Virtual Console title Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins on the cheap all week for $2.99.  Speaking of on the cheap, looks like you can grab a free one-month trial to Hulu Plus via the Wii starting Friday, August 10.  Rounding out the offerings are 3D Sports Highlights (in stop-motion Lego form) in the Nintendo Video app on the 3DS and a new course video for New Super Mario Bros. 2, which releases next week.

What say you Nintendo fans?  Looks like they’re going back to the boring releases until New Mario launches.  Hopefully we get back to green pastures soon.

Below is the official press release and here is the picture version.
