Download Size for New Super Mario Bros. 2 Revealed

When New Super Mario Bros. 2 releases for the 3DS next month, Nintendo gamers can choose for the first time to buy a physical copy of the game or download a digital version via the eShop.  Now we have details about just how big the download will be so you can start planning ahead.

According to inside-gamer.jp, the game will take up 2950 blocks before save files, which is about the same as 0.37GB.  For comparisons sake, Super Mario 3D Land fit about 0.31GB worth of data on a cart, while Kid Icarus: Uprising was 1.61GB.

So it sounds like you shouldn’t have to clear out a whole lot of room if you are planning to go the digital route like I am.  But if you have a ton of games from the eShop, now might be the time to upgrade your SD card so you have enough space for this and the post-release DLC.  Stay tuned to GameGravy for a review of New Super Mario Bros. 2 when it releases in North America on August 19th.
