Nostalgia at it’s best with a pinch of new school is a perfect way to describe Titan Attacks! I remember playing space invaders way back when and hoping to keep that spastic luck running wave after wave without dying. In Titan Attacks! you will be reliving those old moments, dodging incoming alien ships and lasers through a 100 waves of good ole fashioned fun. Curve Studios and Puppygames have created a very nice arcade game to kill time for on the go or at home. You can purchase the game for $11.99 for PS4, PS3 or Vita and the best part is that it’s cross-buy.
Titan Attacks! has the typical space invader style shooting madness to it with the added feature to upgrade your tank. You gain money for increased multipliers, defeating the enemy ships and even capturing aliens. While trudging through wave after wave of alien ship chaos you will be choosing to spend your income wisely on another shield bar, upgrading fire power or even adding attachments. Over time you will hopefully have created a beast of a tank that can destroy with ease.
There are five stages, each holding 20 waves with a mothership at the end. The motherships prove to be a little challenging in later areas with more lasers and bombs emitting from them nonstop. Titan Attacks! is able to be fully completed 100% in roughly under 3 hours depending on your old school shooting skills.
The visuals are very complementary to this type of arcade shooter and play nicely with the senseless fun. On some of the waves you will encounter your screen filled with tons of smoke, lights and explosions that illuminate quite nicely. I didn’t notice anything too spectacular about the sound aspect, which honestly doesn’t need to stand out for a classic themed game such as this.
The Recommendation
Titan Attacks! is a very nice time killer for anyone and its a nice added bonus being cross-buy on multiple Sony platforms. Aside from being a short game and easily conquered, It still has the ability to hold your attention time and time again. For $11.99 I definitely recommend this title, especially if you own a Vita for on the go play to feed that nostalgic urge we all get. The online leaderboards add a little extra replay value for anyone who wants to climb up the ranks for bragging rights.
