The Walking Dead game is based off the cult classic comic books and the main stream TV series. If your looking for a zombie game then turn around right now. The Walking Dead is more about making difficult choices and having an incredible story, then smashing zombies faces in. The back story is simple, it’s the end of the world, zombies are killing people, and the main point of the game is how you can survive and how far you will go to survive. The story begins with your character, Lee, driving out of Atalanta. Lee is a convicted murderer being taking to prison and that’s when everything hits the fan.
The Walking Dead is a choose your own adventure book, and it pulls it off with flying colors. One of the characters talks to you and you have four ways to respond, your choices have to be quick because the game only gives you a few seconds to make your choice. Now keep in mind the choices you make now will carry over from the previous games so think about that before you burn bridges with characters. The voice acting in the game is top notch; from the characters you see for five minutes to the ones that stay through the whole game. The sound in this game is perfectly enjoyable. From the sound of your hammer going through a zombies skull, to the background sound, its all around great. Graphically the team at Telltale Games decided to go with the comic book look, they pull it off beautifully. Everything looks like you’re walking around inside of a comic book where you get to choose the outcome of the story.
It may be one of the simpler games you’ve played but it will be one of the most emotional stories that gamers will get to experience. Telltale Games does an excellent jobs at pulling those emotional strings. There are a few lag issues and glitches within the game but none of these miner flaws take away from the story. From the voice acting to the cool comic graphics The Walking Dead: A New Day has a great start to the series and I can’t wait for the next four. This is a game definitely worth purchasing.
