I have no idea what to say! This game hurts my head… but in a good way, I think.

It’s fun and there’s nothing that can deny that, it’s a lot of fun to walk into a store throw your body around and break things, destroy things, blow up cars, jump off trampolines, do flips, get rocketed up on fireworks, and then blown up in the sky and fall down really fast. You can go on rollercoasters themselves, go to a giant house party on top of a building where there is all of a sudden a dead mouse look alike and you get put on his head on and you look like him. It’s a lot of fun, but it also feels very empty and dry, it feels like a tech demo this feels like a beta of something better that maybe is going to come into fruition. Yet what is here is a lot of fun to be had in the game at all times.

At any moment there’s nothing that’s telling you you can’t go over and blow up a car, there’s nothing that’s telling you you can’t go into a shop on the street and just break everything in it. You’re free at all times to do whatever it is that you want to do but without having a little bit of direction the game feels a bit empty at times.

Graphically the game looks good but it doesn’t look great and it does not show case the ps4’s graphic capability in any way at all, it looks like something that was released on the PlayStation 3 and it looks like a steam game. There are plenty of games that are released for steam all the time that look awesome and are really good graphically, they showcases the platform, but this game is something that looks like it was a very early part of steam.

It seems that a lot of people have been waiting for Goat Simulator to come out to the home systems because this is a game just feels like its meant to be played on a controller. The fact that it was a cult hit on this PC also means they’re kind of hoping for that same kind of interest and drive to be given over to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox one. Destruction games are always fun and luckily for the game it plays just perfect like most games that are released on Steam, they are  already prebuilt with console controls and this one is no different, it works perfectly on the PlayStation 4 controller. it’s easy, it’s fluid, there’s nothing that you have to get your brain wrapped around to go to do some of the cooler stuff.

There’s a lot of very interesting gameplay mechanics that are in the game, and at the end of the day this almost feels like a open world Tony Hawk type arcade game. You get points for everything that you do if you’re blowing up cars, if you’re destroying buildings, if you’re falling to your death and you hit a pedestrian. Everything is going to give you points and that point counter is going to continue to go up there as you play.

There objectives that the game ask you to perform and yes you can do them to learn more about the game. It’s even fun to do the objectives, but really the fun of the game is going out and doing other things, it’s going out and seeing just how far you can take this physics engine and maybe break it. If you can get up enough speed you can make pretty big jumps and if you can make big jumps and you do lots of flips and if you can land a perfect landing it just feel very rewarding.

There are times when you’ll do the same thing over and over and over again and not realize just how many times you’ve done the same thing, just because you want to see if you could do something like run up a wall for 4 seconds. There is not a story mode of any kind in this game it’s basically just start the game, you can add modifiers if you’d like to which include things like jetpacks and double jumps. There’s also two areas that are unlocked at the very beginning of the game, both areas are big and there’s a lot to see, there’s a lot to do. There’s a good amount of variety between the two areas that separate them and it will keep you busy for a very long time. Untill you feel like you can’t run around in circles anymore this game hurts my head, I don’t know why, I enjoy playing it very much. Goat Simulator feels like a chaotic mess. It feels like chaos that I am controlling.

I decided to give the controller to my daughter and see what she thought of the game. She wouldn’t stop laughing, everything she did just caused her to smile and laugh, it was a great time and I could tell that this game is meant for somebody that doesn’t want to play a video game, but someone that just wants to cause chaos. Just because they want to wreak havoc and they just want to have a good time. This reminds me of playing grand theft auto 3, when you would just terrorize the city. Goat Simulator feels like when we could play at Tony Hawk games and go into free skate mode and just skate for hours.

The Recommendation
There’s nothing that you have to do in Goat Simulator and that is one of its best qualities there is. The game allows you to play the game however it is that you want to. Goat Simulator is A beta, it is early release, it is not complete, but that’s okay because it’s Goat Simulator. Where where else are you going to be able to lick a car and have it follow behind you until you jump off a cliff and blow up!
