Nintendo has shared the most informative video thus far on the features of the highly anticipated Mario Maker coming to Wii U on September 11. The biggest revelation is the 9 levels of tools that are unlocked as you progressively use them. For example, once you’ve used the level 1 tools for 5 minutes you unlock the level 2 tools the following day. This will no doubt cause some issues with certain gamers but Nintendo is doing their best to not throw you into the fire immediately. Similar to an Adobe program lesson this allows you to become proficient with the basics and then adding new skills to your repertoire.
There are 6 course themes and crosses 4 generations of Mario; Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. Levels can be shared around the world so long as you can beat it yourself. Pre-made courses can also be downloaded, edited, and resubmitted. 100/10 Mario gives players 100 or 10 Mario lives to try to complete as many random courses as they can.
Amiibos get their do here as they let you use that character in the game or add extra features such as the 30th anniversary Mario Amiibo giving players access to “big Mario”.
