QuakeCon 2015: New Fallout 4 details emerge

Earlier today at QuakeCon during a live demo Fallout 4 game director Todd Howard shared some new details about Bethesda’s newest and much anticipated entry into the series. And thanks to the the wonders of social media and a live blog of the event courtesy of IGN we’ve been able to gather lot’s of new info to satisfy your Fallout 4 information needs. Here is what we have found so far.

  • Over 1,000 character names have been recorded including “fuckface”, and will be spoken.
  • Dogmeat is modeled after the Lead Level Designer’s dog “River”.
  • He can learn ” Attack Dog” and “Intimidation” perks. You can also send him out to scavenge buildings while you are occupied somewhere else.
  • One of the environments of the game is Diamond City which is built in the Fenway Park ruins.
  • Companions include: Preston Garvey, a girl named Piper( who is apparently VERY good at lying), Dogmeat and Mr. Handy. There will be around 12 companions in the game.
  •  All human companions can be romanced, gender does not matter.
  • Most animations are motion captured though facial animations are procedurally generated.
  • Terminal hacking and lock picking are back. Along with the Fat Man launcher, and the Falllout Brotherhood power armor.
  • The strength stat will allow the player to carry more items.
  • You can pick one perk every time you level up. There are seventy perks each with sub categories.
  • Environments include the town of Lexington, Quincy, and the Corvega power plant.
  • You will be able to intervene between waring factions or stand back and let it play out.
  • If Mr. Handy is destroyed you can see his parts as the rendered his entire “insides”.
  • Looking at the Pip-boy in combat pauses the game.

Bethesda also announced that Fallout Shelter will be coming to Android devices next month. Fallout 4 is scheduled to launch November 10th for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. If we missed something cool let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more QuakeCon 2015 coverage through the weekend.

Lover of all genres and systems though admittedly a HUGE Nintendo fan. I'm all about the joy and fun the experience of playing a videogame brings. I say "Play games not systems". -Someday you will be old enough to start playing Nintendo games and reading comic books again- Me.
