Catlateral Damage Impressions at PAX East 2015

Do you like kitteh’s? Have you ever wondered why cats were trouble makers? Well, because its fun of course. I had the pleasure of checking out Catleral Damage, a game developed by Chris Chung. Catlateral Damage is a first-person destructive cat simulator where you play as a cat on a rampage, knocking as much stuff onto the ground as possible.

This is one title that is so simple yet can hold your attention for long spans of time and is just plain fun. Who thought thinking like a cat and being a jerk face was so much fun. You get to explore different parts of the rooms, unlock doors and gain power ups for finding cat toys and busting open packages. Later when the real game comes out you can even chase laser pens! Sorry, laser pens are just that cool that it justifies and exclamation point.

Game Features

  • Play from the perspective of a crazy domestic house cat.
  • Destroy precious collectibles and expensive electronics with your little paws.
  • Make a mess of every room in the house, from the bedroom to the kitchen.
  • Procedurally-generated houses for endless replayability.
  • Loads of collectibles, unlockable cats, and power-ups.

I played this on a PC with an Xbox 360 controller and it was pretty great. In regards to the controls it was easy to guess right off the bat. The only thing that I’d like to see adjusted is the jump to be higher but I understand why it’s made this way. You have to jump from place to place to get to where you need to go, and with power ups this feat becomes quicker. I also wish there was a scamper or run button but look at me requesting all these weird cat features. I liked this title enough where I will definitely purchase it. Catlateral Damage makes a great party game or is a fun time killer.

The price is still TBD and the release date is unannounced but it will be released roughly in Q1 of 2015, which means soon! Catlateral damage will be available on the PC, MAC, Linux, Steam and OUYA platform.
