EA E3 2014 Press Event Recap

The EA press conference started off with an old-time favorite, Star Wars. They had DICE show some behind the scenes of an upcoming Star Wars title. Not much detail was given, just an emotional montage of how they had the opportunity to see in person all the old props from Star Wars, visit the original set locations and recreate some of the best scenes within the movie digitally for this upcoming game which wasn’t really revealed. In the screens below you’ll see some level work but that’s as much as we were able to see. The team over at DICE are Star Wars fans so we are hoping they give it the justice it deserves.

The next title they gave a spectacular intro to was Dragon Age Inquisition. This title looks phenomenal! They had a cellist performer move out on the stage as the intro began and it was quite moving and pretty spectacular to see. The Dragon Age Inquisition trailer is below.

Golf without limits is what was shown next. That’s right, they announced PGA Tour created with the Frostbite 3 engine. That way you can explore every facet of the golf course. They even have an extreme fantasy setting where you golf in crazy scenarios like a sinking battleship on fire crashing through the course, you’ll just have to see for yourself below.

One of the coolest intros was one with Bruce Lee talking about water and how water forms into any shape it desires and how you must become the water. That was an awesome intro to lead in the UFC title. They gave an impressive demo of the new UFC game. The demo pitted Bruce Lee vs BJ Penn and it was awesome to see. This is a title worth checking out, the amount of detail put into the fighting aspect is pretty impressive.

One of my favorite quotes was about NHL 15. People ask “What’s changed in NHL 15?” The answer: Everything has changed. Physics has been applied to all players and puck itself, players remember and this all adds up to make one dynamic game that have a tremendous amount of outcomes and a lot of replay value.

Madden 15 Gameplay was definitely impressive as well. A lot of changes have gone into the offense and defense. You can totally set the tone of your defense with more control thanks to the new moves and also the addition of new intuitive tackling mechanics that were added.

Let us not forget FIFA 15. There were also a lot of changes put into this title. Players now have memories and react accordingly based on their past learned experiences with games and/or players. Agility and control has also changed. The pitch is alive now, everything moves and everything is alive and more details have been added. From the crowds to the cleats in the mud you’ll feel like you’re actually playing real football.

Battlefield Hardline was another huge staple of this EA press event. They showed off some awesome gameplay footage of an LA Heist of an armored truck. Bad guys vs cops, classic Counter Strike style but way better. You gain money to unlock weapons, armor, etc and its vastly dynamic. This is definitely something to check out. Getting my hands on this during the event was amazing, you’ll see us on the battlefield.

To end the press conference finally I bring to you the new Mirrors Edge. Now, not much was shown of this game or much was said about when its released, title, etc. There was some rough footage shown though but mostly just behind the scenes of how things are being made which was cool but disappointing at the same time. This definitely looks like its going to be an authentic sequel worth checking out. Below is a video of the conceptual prototype.
