With over three hundred different puzzles over a dozen categories, Word Search by Powgi will definitely give you a nice little brain game on the go. Each category is themed, some of which such as “In Full Colour” have some rather cutely named puzzles. For example, having children myself, I got a bit of a chuckle out of the one titled “Blues Hues”.

Word Search is exactly what it claims to be, a word search. Nothing more. There’s not a whole awful lot involved as you simply look for words on the lower screen of your 3DS, tracing over them with your stylus as you find them which automatically removes them from the word list located on the top screen.

One thing that I really liked that you sometimes do not see in word searches that i feel helps to raise the difficulty a bit is how the words are hidden in an omni-directional manner. What I mean by this is that you are looking for the words going up, down, left, right and even backwards! Although it’s a bit repetitive, I found the background music to be relaxing to an extent which in turn helped me to think and focus. Unlike the Wii U version of the game, there is no form of multiplayer, but being able to play on the go compensates for that, at least for me.

The Recommendation

It may not be the fanciest game, or most graphically intensive but for what it is I definitely feel Word Search by Powgi is a good value for the money given the sheer amount of puzzles and with a free demo available on the eShop there’s no reason to not give it a shot. Especially if you’re like me and enjoy word search puzzles.
