The Big Sony Experience at E3 2015

sony-booth-e3-2015

The experience Sony had at E3 excited a lot of people, in fact so much the line was around the corner and wrapped a few times, but it felt like a trick. During the press event, Sony released their E3 trailers for Horizon Zero Dawn, the very much anticipated The Last Guardian and also Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Since we all saw the trailers during the press conference we were undoubtedly sure we’d get some sort of interaction with one of these titles. They are, after all looking like they are in an excellent spot and what better place to do it than E3. Alas, the thing behind those three giant posters are three separated rooms that had extended E3 trailers with some additional gameplay footage. Which was great and all but highly disappointing for the 1.5 hour wait I stood in line, it felt very anticlimactic. What pissed me off the most was that they had an actual working demo of Horizon Zero Dawn, which looks amazing by the way and had the developer in the meeting room play it for us, PLAY IT FOR US. I don’t know about you but I hate being a backseat gamer. The game does look amazing, and he did a great job explaining everything. The story sounds intriguing and I cannot wait to get my hands on it but after the whole thing, I was just left wanting more which I guess is the point, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The time in line did not equate to the deliverable. I could watch the extended trailers when they are released in the next day and could have spent that time at the Sony booth in line to play an actual title.

On a positive gameplay note The Last Guardian looked fantastic! They really did put a lot of love into this title and this is going to be a must buy, in fact Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian are a must buy for me at least. I’m on the fence about Horizon, but we’ll see. It looks amazing, but I won’t know until I see a lot more.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was just a treat to watch. Not being a huge fan of the Uncharted series I was impressed and they won me over, I’ll definitely pick this title up. The attention to detail was amazing and the smoothness of AI and gameplay made it definitely feel like a next gen title worth owning. If you missed all three trailers, I posted them below. If not, watch them again they are excellent.

Which out of these three were you most impressed with? Let me know in the comments below.
