Disney Infinity 3.0 will launch this fall and is full of new content. One of the most rumored and anticipated are the Star Wars Play Sets launching for Playstation platforms, Xbox systems, Wii U and PC. The starter kit, Twilight of the Republic, is entrenched in the timeline of Episodes I, II and III. It stars Anakin Skywalker and Ashoka Tano and will also feature Yoda and Darth Maul among others. The second, Rise Against the Empire is set amid the original trilogy, and the third established upon this Decembers’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens. All of these sets allow characters from each to cross over into all three Star Wars Play Sets.
Other play sets also set to launch is a Disney-Pixar Play Set based on a new film releasing June 19th called Inside Out. All five emotion characters (Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust) as playable figures. The Marvel play set characters will be fully announced at a later date but they have revealed Hulkbuster Iron Man and Ultron. Other characters to be released are Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy, Olaf, Mulan, and classic Minnie and Mickey.
The most exciting part of Disney Infinity 3.0 is the multiplayer Toy Box Expansion games that will allow you to play any character from 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 together. This feature allows those who have already invested in Wii to simply purchase the Disney Infinity 3.0 disc while using the base already owned. All Power Discs and figures are compatible in the enhanced Toy Box. The new Toy Box Hub will help categorize games by genre; platformer, racing and farm simulations. Two new Toy Box Expansion Games introduced are Toy Box Takeover (action-adventure) and Toy Box Speedway (kart racing).
Disney Infinity 3.0 has really stepped it up with new characters and gaming options. The price point is reasonable as starter kits retail for 64.99 and it looks like it’ll be well worth it for all the hours of gaming and character combinations available.
